Band Directors

 

Robert Sullivan,
Director of Bands

 Robert Sullivan is a native Texan having been born and raised in Fort Worth where he attended Western Hills High School and was under the direction of Pat Dickerson. Mr. Sullivan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Hankammer School of Business at Baylor University with concentrations in Marketing, Management and Economics in 1983. After graduating from Baylor, Mr. Sullivan worked in commercial real estate in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1995.

 

Robert Sullivan began his teaching career in the Coppell ISD in the DFW area. His bands at both the middle school and high school level have consistently earned the UIL Sweepstakes Award. His students have also won various Outstanding Band awards and Best in Class titles in and outside of the State of Texas. In 2000-2001, his band from Medlin Middle School in Trophy Club, Texas earned the Texas State Championship Class C Honor Band Award.

 

Mr. Sullivan has been awarded the Texas Music Educators Association “Leadership and Achievement Award”, the Texas Music Educators Association “Honor Director Award” and the National Band Association’s “Citation of Excellence” for his contributions to music education. His professional associations include; Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Band Master’s Association, Music Educator’s National Conference,   National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity and Delta Kappa Pi Honor Society in Education. Mr. Sullivan is an active adjudicator and clinician in the Austin and Dallas-Ft.Worth metro areas.

Jacob Gross,
Assistant Band Director

 

 Jacob Gross comes to Crockett from Roselle, IL, a suburb on the northwest side of Chicago. While living in Roselle he attended Lake Park High School, playing under the direction of Ken Snoeck as well as Mike Chiodo. After graduating from Lake Park, Mr. Gross attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where he  studied music education with Dr. Joseph Manfredo as well as clarinet with Useon Choi and J. David Harris.

 

While at the University of Illinois, Mr. Gross was involved in many activities such as the concert band program, athletic bands, and clarinet choir. Mr. Gross has also been active in the world of Drum Corps International as a member playing mellophone with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, IA from 2006-2008 and the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from Fort Mill, SC from 2009-2010. The 2009 season with Carolina Crown concluded with the corps earning the Jim Ott Memorial Award for being the best brassline in the country. Most recently during the summer of 2011, Mr. Gross was a brass technician with the Legends Drum and Bugle Corps from Kalamazoo, MI.

 

His professional associations include: Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Band Master’s Association, Music Educator’s National Conference,   National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity.

 

Mr. Gross is extremely excited to be a part of the Crockett Band and looks forward to a great year in his new city of Austin!

Kyle Albright,
Colorguard Instructor
 

Kyle Alright is a graduate of Stony Point High School in Austin, TX, and received his degree in Business Advertising from Austin Community College. Kyle has marched a total of six years of winterguard with Stony Point High School, Insignia Independent Open / World, and Millennia Independent Open. Mr. Albright also marched five years of drum corps with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps of Canton, Ohio from 2002-2006.

Mr. Albright was on the staff of the 2009 4A UIL Texas State Marching Champions Dripping Springs High School and is the visual coordinator and colorguard director at Crockett High School.
