Fundraising
There are two systems of fundraising in place in the Crockett Band. Student fundraisers are sponsored for the purpose of providing opportunities for the students to earn funds for the Band Fee and the band's spring trip. The band directors keep individual accounts for each student in order to maintain an accounting of how much money has been earned or deposited towards the expense of a trip. In addition, the Crockett Band Parents Association operates major fundraising events in order to supplement the operation of the Crockett High School band program.
Monies placed in student accounts will fall into two categories:
- Contributed funds - those funds which have been deposited directly into the student's account by themselves or by their parents for the purpose of paying for any planned trip or other use. These funds are refundable provided that no vendor payment deadline has passed.
- Earned funds - funds that were deposited in the student's account as a direct result of an organized band or band booster fundraiser. These funds are not refundable; however, they may be transferred to another student's account according to the wishes of the account owner. Any funds left in the account upon graduation or other termination of band membership will revert to the Crockett Band Parents Association general band account.
Student Fundraising
- All band student fundraising will be approved by the principal
- Band fundraisers will follow the guidelines of AISD board policy
- Accurate records of items checked out, sold, and returned will be documented and accurate for audit and business purposes.
- Band student fundraising proceeds will go toward the student's individual account to pay for the cost of the annual spring trip.
- Students may be asked to raise funds for the general Crockett Band Parents Association account, to pay for operating expenses such as the purchase of instruments, music, equipment, etc.
CBPA Fundraisers
The CBPA has several standard fundraisers each year that provide the majority of the budget. These are:
- Capital City Marching Festival - A marching festival, usually during on the first Saturday in October at Burger Stadium, co-sponsored by the Crockett Band Parents Association, Inc. and the LBJ Band Parents Association. Each year, each high school band association takes their turn providing leadership for this event. Among the different volunteer positions are: Band Escorts, Bus and Public Parking, Communication, Tailgaters (Concession Stand), Security, Stadium Gates (Ticket Takers), and Ticket Booth. This is a fun, exciting event and one of our largest fundraisers!
- Car Wash - Suspended in August 2009 due to City of Austin Stage 2 Water Restrictions. Once water restrictions have been lifted, numerous car washes will be held throughout the year. This event is led by the Crockett Band Parent and relies on the volunteer participation of other band parents and band students.
- Roses Sale - During football games, the Color Guard sells fabric roses that can be purchased for family and friends. Roses are also sold prior to Valentine's Day.
- UT Stadium Cleanup - During the UT football season, we clean a section of the stands on the following Sunday morning after UT home games. Things needed: water, gloves, leaf blowers and lots of energy. Band students are expected to participate and we need parent participation also
